Important information
- Creative developer access to Adverticum AdServer
Creative developers can demand access for the system where they can create banners and test their appearance served by the Adverticum. This administration interface is a simple version of the AdServer where the invocation code helps to test the banner in a test-environment. Within the test-cases the available options are found: banner upload wizard, created banner and invocation code. More information about the test-admin interface and its usage are available here. If you are interested in this solution, please write at support@adverticum.com e-mail address.
- Modifiying/creating creatives
The Adverticum Support Team does not modify or create creatives. If there is a need for this kind of service, our web developer business unit provides service of creating/correcting creatives based on order for 15 000 HUF +vat/hour fee. Please, contact them on this e-mail address: display@adverticum.com with the details.
- Matching to specification
It is possible to chain together our AdServer with another adservers. The campaign manager should read in our Knowledgebase about how to measure adviews and click-throughs with both adservers. The chaining can be set on the administration page, so the creative’s creation process for the AdServer is not affecting the other adserver’s measure capability.
- The size of the ads
The size of creatives cannot be more than 300 KB. The system allows to upload bigger files but the serving of these costs extra fee.
- Compression
It’s important that the system cannot check creatives with LMZA compression, hence Deflate compression option should be used instead of LMZA publishing the creative! Please forward your questions about banner creation to the Adverticum Support Team available on this e-mail address: support@adverticum.com. You can read more about the settings of Adverticum AdServer's banners in our Knowledgebase. (On this page only Adverticum AdServer users, campaign managers are able to login to view our articles.)
Development information
HTML/XHTML/HTML5 kreatívok
In this guide we collected all the AdServer specific restricions and possibilities of HTML/XHTML creatives, often just refered as HTML5 - although not always really HTML5, to help developers.
This guide contains informations that is important for upload process of the HTML creatives to the AdServer, which is relevant to the person managing the campaign, but if the creatives are done per specification, it can largely ease the management of the campaign.
This documentation is true for banners invoked through Adverticum AdServer tags - called GoAdverticum3, refered as goa3 - and that the tags are embedded along the goa3 documentation into the publisher's site, where the ad should display.
HTML or Markup banner? What is it all about, and what's the difference in Adverticum's AdServer?
Markup banneres are almost like normal HTML banners, but as being XHTML, XML also, it has more restrictions, but provide wider possibilities. From a technical perspective the relevant distinction is that Markup banners are displayed as part of the suite, and not in an iFrame like regular HTML banners do. Markup banners can utilize the site-s own CSS, and also provide the option for various custom animation, and transition effects, witout the use of display modules.
1. Our html/xhtml/html5 banner creation guide is available here.
2. Attention! Creatives converted with Swiffy, or created with Adobe Edge or Google Web Developer should be modified and uploaded in a different way! More about that: http://dev.adverticum.com/conversion-eng:start
About banners developed for easyHTML template
The easyHTML template is such a tool in the Adverticum AdServer that helps converting and managing the HTML/HTML5 banners. This holds benefits for both the development and management of the creative. We provide the easyHTML solution as a Markup template - there is no extra fee of the usage.
Our technical documentation about easyHTML template is available here.
Advantages of easyHTML template:
- more transparent banner-creation process
- there is no need to do extra changes in the code-structure
- lower risk of mistakes
- easier creative-management (open/close-detection)
- relative URLs are allowed (in case of HTML, CSS or Javascript codes, as well)
The purpose of this new method of serving HTML banners is to ease the management of the of the more and more widely used HTML creatives for both the developers and campaign managers. This is achieved in the form of an Markup template which is provided free of charge.
In the perspect of development, the necessary modifications are less, so less to do after the creative is finished. Some notes on the advantages versus regular HTML banners.
-
No more encodeing issues sometimes faced with regular HTML banners, rooted in some technical specifics.
-
Handling open start requests are possible unlike with HTML banners.
-
Usage of relative URL s is made possible, no need to replace resource links with AdServer variables.
All files should be uploaded into the AdServer to be able to run the banner. In the administration interface the "easy HTML Banner" markup template will be able to manage the HTML files.
About the upload process you can read more in our easyHTML template document.

There is a more detailed documentation for campaign managers in this link: https://support.adverticum.net/index.php?/Sales/Knowledgebase/Article/View/220/17/floating-skyscraper-display
5.) Sticky
The Sticky banner appears either side of the browser window and it remains in fixed position when scrolling the window. It is different from the floating skyscraper banner because it is not following the speed of the scrolling, not floating on the page. Its position is kept inside the window. When opening the site it appears as embedded, but behaves as a floating banner when scrolling, so it stays in the field of vision. An additional advantage of it is that after closing the ad it is going back to its place, to the embedded zone. The display can be applied with image or HTML creative. Our demo banner is found here: http://demo.adverticum.net/en/scroll/scroll/
Important!
- The click handling should be managed according to the given creative documentation by all bannertype.

The parameters that can be set on the administration page: http://display.adverticum.net/display/peeloff/
- peel behaviour is implemented in the display, there’s no need to solve it in the creative’s animation
- opening and closing time could be set in seconds
- you can set a frequency for how often the banner should appear in open state
- if the creative is transparent a background colour is optional to set
- it could be set that the banner only opens and closes if the visitor clicks on it (of course it should be implemented in the creative too)

- creative with opening and closing functions could also be used
Here is a more detailed documentation for campaign managers in this link: https://support.adverticum.net/index.php?/Sales/Knowledgebase/Article/View/223/17/corner-peel-display
8.) Multi expand
This is the expanding banner, the size and dimensions of this type can be changed by hovering, clicking. The display can be applied with image, HTML or Markup creative. Our demo banner is found here: http://demo.adverticum.net/en/expand
An example for the Markup or HTML solution: http://demo.adverticum.net/en/iab_rising_stars/pushdown/
Important!
- The click handling should be managed according to the given creative documentation by all bannertype.
- The creative cannot contain variables that apply user tracking to set appearance frequency.
- The size of the creative cannot be more than 300 kB.
- The time of the expansion, the base and the expanded sizes always has to be given on the admin interface.
- Is is important to pay attention in which direction and how the creative should open and accordingly has to be created.
- With this solution the push banners are possible to create that appear in small size and if the creative is loaded, then at the hovering with the cursor it expands. The viewable part of the banner expands to reach the set size in AdServer and after the given time it closes itself.
The parameters that can be set on the administration page: http://display.adverticum.net/display/multiexpand/

- it could be set after how much time the banner should collapse to the original size if action has not been done
- the time of expanding and collapsing could be set
- there is a checkbox that sets that the base sized banner will be expanding proportionally until the extended size or it will show only a part of the creative, the whole content of it will be seen after expanding
Here is a more detailed documentation for campaign managers in this link: https://support.adverticum.net/index.php?/Sales/Knowledgebase/Article/View/224/17/multi-expand-display
9.) Sidekick
Sidekick banner initiates as an embedded banner that pushes the content sideways and shows another embedded banner (usually with bigger dimensions) that runs in another zone. The embedded creative gets activated to open with a click on a given part of the banner (i.e. the other zone appears after clicking). The display can be applied with image, HTML or Markup creative. Our demo banner is found here: http://demo.adverticum.net/en/extrem/sidekick/
Important!
- The click handling should be managed according to the given creative documentation by all bannertype.
- The creative cannot contain variables that apply user tracking to set appearance frequency.
- The size of the creative cannot be more than 300 kB.
- The opening and the bigger embedded (running in another zone) creative have to be created and uploaded separately.
- It is forbidden to define automatic closing time in the creative.
Sometimes it is hard to handle the bigger creative’s closing function, we suggest that the closing function’s name should be hardcoded, it should not be an external parameter. This way the "closeFUNCTION" JavaScript function should be called. In case of HTML banner it is suggested to follow these steps: http://dev.adverticum.com/creatives:html-en#html_banner
The parameters that can be set on the administration page: http://display.adverticum.net/display/sidekick/
- the creatives do not need to be synchronised, the template operates the communication between them
- the creative does not need to have a closing button, because closing buttons and texts are optional to set
- the time of pushing the page could be set
- the time of showing the open state (when both creatives appear) when the page is downloaded and its frequency could be set
- it could be set after how much time the second part of the banner should disappear
- frequency could be set
- distance could be set between the opening banner and the second banner that pushes the side away
Here is a more detailed documentation for campaign managers in this link: https://support.adverticum.net/index.php?/Sales/Knowledgebase/Article/View/225/17/sidekick-display

- The display operates the opening of the creative.
- The opening button background image is always called from an external URL by AdServer.
- It is forbidden to define automatic closing time in the creative.
The parameters that can be set on the administration page: http://display.adverticum.net/display/billboard/
- Creative does not need to contain closing function, because the button and text (CSS) could be given/set by the template
- Open type and CSS could be set
- Vertical: opening button with optional text and size of 62x88 background image
- Horizontal: opening button with optional text and size of 196x31 background image
- Banner width: opening button with optional text and a background image of max. 31 pixels high and its width could be the same as the banner's.
- Zone width: opening button with optional text and a background image of max. 31 pixels high and its width could be the same as the zone's. If using this setting, the zone's fix width should be defined in the page's source.
- Simple: opening button and optional text
- frequency could be set
- it could be set if the banner should appear in open state, and if yes, then how many times
Here is a more detailed documentation for campaign managers in this link: https://support.adverticum.net/index.php?/Sales/Knowledgebase/Article/View/227/17/billboard-display

- The creative cannot contain variables that apply user tracking to set appearance frequency.
- The size of the creative cannot be more than 300 kB.
- It is forbidden to define automatic closing time in the creative.
The parameters that can be set on the administration page: http://display.adverticum.net/display/swimmer/
- you can set from which corner should the banner appear, and a trigger height that sets the height of scrolling and if that is reached, the swimmer will start its moving
- you can set a position where the banner will stop its moving

IAB Mobile Rising Stars
The IAB (Interactive Advertising Bureau) has created the Mobile Rising Stars ad units, from which 3 types could be used with our Mobile combo display solution. All 3 types provide similar appearance with the co-operation of two creatives. The first creative is the so-called base creative which appears first when the page is downloaded. It is smaller and it sticks to the screen's top or bottom, and the user can open it to view the second creative which is the so-called full page creative. As its name implies it covers the full page, so the most details could be placed on this inside the mobile ad and this part of the ad takes the visitor to the landing page when it is touched.
The Adhesion banner's base creative gets opened by a touch, and then the full page creative appears. There is a remove button seen on both creatives that makes them disappear when touched. On this site you can read how the Adhesion appearance works and what kind of settings are needed to be done for the use of it.
The Pull banner's base creative gets opened by a vertical swipe or a touch depending on the setting, and then the full page creative appears. You can use 2 different base creatives at this appearance, the first base creative motivates the user to open the ad, while the second base creative is seen together with the full page creative, and it gives the opportunity to get back to the website. The whole ad (all creatives) could be removed when clicking on the remove button that is seen on the base and on the full page creative too. On this site you can read how the Pull appearance works and what kind of settings are needed to be done for the use of it.
The Slider banner's base creative gets opened by a horizontal swipe (from the right to the left) or a touch depending on the setting, and then the full page creative appears. On this site you can read how the Slider appearance works and what kind of settings are needed to be done for the use of it.
The Full page flex display is the Interstitial's mobile version, that appears before the website. On mobile devices it covers the whole website for some seconds, then disappears. The ad is able to adapt to the device's standing or lying position or the so called portait or landscape position, and in both cases it appears positioned to the center.
Important! This is available only in case of image or markup banners.
Technical details for creating the Full page flex banner:
- Creative's dimensions: The ad covers the whole surface of the website in portrait and landscape position if the uploaded creative is larger than the device's screen. For example if the screen is 320x480 large, then based on the bigger number the creative should be 480x480 large, but its 320x320 large center should contain the ad's substantial part because this will be actually seen due to the center positioning.
- Banner type: You can create the banners as an image or a markup banner. If you choose Markup banner, the dimensions of it should be equal with the screen's dimensions.
- Standalone or secondary appearance: This display could be used by itself or by co-operating with another creative (Adhesion, Pull or Slider banner) that is set with Mobile Combo display. In that case the Full page flex only appears after the other creative was opened and then it could be closed with a closing button (this way the banner won't close itself after the Timeout option's given time). If you would like to combine the two display types, you should remove the selection from the Standalone option's checkbox, then assign this banner to a compatible zone and that zone's ID should be given at the Mobile combo display's settings.
